Hawaiian Islands

Nearly completely isolated for 70 million years before human arrival, the Hawaiian Islands are treasured today for their exotic beauty, their tempestuous history, and their stunning geography. Comprised of exposed peaks of an undersea mountain range, they mark an active hotspot over the earth's mantle and are famed for the volcanic activity that gave birth to them in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. This cut and layered piece honors the Windward Islands of the Hawaiian archipelago and the 3-mile deep mountain range on which they rest.

This is an original, layered papercut piece, handmade in Minnesota, in your choice of color (this one is in a tropical set of Aqua blues with a green or white land layer), and featuring the details of the eight major islands of Hawaii, the 50th U.S. state.
